I know you think I forgot about blogging this week……….but I didn’t! I just have not had any spare moments. I finished up my Club Classes for October this week, and this was one of our projects. It is very similar to the one on Chic n’ Scratch. I loved this idea, wanted to make it last year, didn’t get around to it, but decided to do it this year for sure! Yes, that is a major run-on sentence………but I think those are allowed at home — just not in my Sr. English class 🙂
I used the leaf from the Holiday Happenings Bundle (hostess set) but I stamped it using the Baby Wipe Technique. I used Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard and Close to Cocoa for my ink colors. I stamped the leaves off one time before stamping them on my Very Vanilla poem card. However, the one in the bottom corner is stamped “full strength” and popped up with dimensionals for an added effect. If you don’t know how to do the Baby Wipe technique, please let me know. I would love to tell you all about it!
The mix is made of Bugles (chips), candy corn, peanuts, pretzels, and Craisins (fruit). Angie Juda used orange slices for her “fruit” but I don’t like those so much — and I liked the thought of the pilgrims eating cranberries and they are similar to Craisins. And they taste better to me!
The poem is so sweet……….
The Bugles are a symbol of the Cornucopia, a horn of plenty.
The Pretzels represent arms folded in Thanks & Prayer.
The Candy Corn reminds us that during the first winter, the pilgrims were allowed only five kernels of corn per day
because the food was scarce.
The Fruit is a reminder that Thanksgiving is the celebration
of the harvest.
The Peanuts represent seeds, the potential of the bounteous
harvest of the next season if they are planted & well-tended.
If you need me to send the poem to you in WORD document form, please e-mail me.
We are starting off another exciting weekend around here. We have a football game (out of town) and AREA Band Competition Saturday which is also out of town. We expect to be up until midnight or 1 am both nights………..which makes this old momma very tired just thinking about it!!!!
I look forward to reporting back to you soon………and I will do my best to post more frequently next week! My teaching job is still going very well and I am enjoying being at the high school with my two oldest girls. They have told me how much they love having me there — and boy, does that feel good!!! I must be doing something right…
Have a super day! Dawn
