Matchbook Card Holder

Good morning……..I am headed off to run some errands, in the rain, and then go to Bryan for a Soccer Playoff Game.  Allyson’s soccer team is only in their third season.  They have really struggled the last 2 years, and only won ONE GAME last year.  They have really come on strong this year and they are in the PLAYOFFS!!!!   We are so excited, except for the fact that we have to travel out of town on a school night!  If they win this one, they play again on Friday night here in town.  YEAH!   This is also a big week for Lindsey.  She is trying out for Cheerleader on Thurday and Friday.  Please say a little prayer for her.  I want her to feel confident in her abilities and smile all the way to the end……….even if she doesn’t make it.  I just want it to be a positive experience for her!  Sarah will try out in a couple of weeks for 7th grade Cheerleader.  WHEW!  Never a dull moment around here!!!!

I got this project idea a very long time ago, but I saw it on Splitcoast.  I am thrilled with how it turned out.  I had been wanting to use the Bright Delights Rub-Ons (page 172 IBC) for some time now………so I put them to work on this project.

I used Kiwi Kiss Textured Cardstock to make the holder.  It measures 4″ x 9″.  I scored it at 1″, 5″, and 5 1/2″.  Fold up the 1″ piece and staple near the bottom to form your flap.   Here is what it looks like opened up to reveal the contents……

I filled this matchbook with 3 cards and 3 envelopes.  Each card measures 3×3 (cardstock is 3×6).  I decorated them each with items from the Bright Delights Rub-Ons — with one exception — the phrase on the owl card comes from the Chit Chat Rub-Ons (page 173 IBC).

Of course you could have stamped these cards………..but they were so quick and easy with the rub-ons.  I hope you will try out this project!  Have a great day!

  1. I love your project idea. I have made “matchbook covers” before, but I had never thought to fill one with 3×3 cards. Wonderful idea. I think I will have to put this on my growing list of things to try. 😀

  7. Dawn,
Congrats on the one year of blogging. I love your blog. It is the first one I check when I get online. My favorite project lately has been the set of very simple cards you made as gifts just using DSP, ribbon, and minimal stamping. I love sets. This 3×3 set is adorable!
