Dare…a scrapbook page

Today’s post features two more scrapbook pages in my daughters’ albums.  I used this layout for the cover page of their albums and got the idea from a layout that I saw in a magazine.  I used my new Big Shot Alphabet to cut out the letters “dare” — Simple Letters on page 198 of the IB&C.  I love the clean, simple lines in these letters……..a perfect combination for the busy paper I used.  If you are wondering why this says “dare”…….please read the journaling block which I zoomed in on (further down in the post). dare allyson

This little journaling block was in a package of different shapes and colors.  They looked like pads of post-it notes, but actually they are not sticky on the back.  I liked the size, the shape, and my words fit just perfectly!  I almost always hand write something on my pages.  Sometimes it is just a short phrase, the date, or the names of the people.  I am a firm believer in using your own hand writing throughout your albums.  It is part of the “story” and a part of who you are.  It will be cherished for years to come…….no matter how neat or sloppy it may appear to you!  It is still a part of you, and you need to pass that on to your kids!  dare words

I also wanted to zoom in on the large flower image.  I added some dimension to this page by adding some silk (or maybe paper) flowers on top of the large flower image.  I attached them to the page with an aqua colored brad.  I really liked this finishing touch!dare flowers
