Baby Card for Bennett

Today’s post is a baby card that I made for our Youth Minister’s new baby, Bennett.  I decided to do use “non-traditional” colors and I really like how it turned out.  The stamp set is a SUPER OLD Retired Set called Definitely Decorative Kid Prints.  I just can’t seem to part with my “old” baby sets, and I don’t have many of the new baby sets.  Please forgive me for not posting something current, but rest-assured that you can use this card layout with any of your stamp images.

Today will be a major “catch-up” day for me.  I have been gone since Thursday morning, and just got home late last night.  I am exhausted and need to regroup.  My Uncle’s Memorial Service was very special, and very emotionally draining — as they usually are.  They had a service outdoors at their ranch, and this is the same rance that my Granny and Papa used to own.  In fact, they live in the exact same house (with some renovations) that I used to visit throughout my childhood.  My times with Granny and Papa were some of my most special memories, and it brought back such a flood of emotions being in that very house.  I could just see myself making dinner with Granny, going to get eggs from the chickens, playing with the bird dogs, feeding the baby calves, riding horses through the meadows, frying quail that Papa just shot, going to the rodeos, and the list goes on………it was an emotional overload.   I was blessed to see many relatives from my mom’s side of the family — many who I have not seen in years.  I hit me hard that we don’t often see our loved ones until someone dies, or someone gets married.  I’m not sure how to change that — but it just makes me really sad.

I also went back and forth between family stuff and Allyson’s soccer tournament in the Arlington area four different times.  It was a lot of driving — and most of it in the Dallas traffic.  I am spent!!!!

So, I must take a moment to breathe, hug my kids, and pull myself back together again.  My sweet hubby did everything for the girls, and the baby, while I was gone.  He is the very best ever!!!!  I’m reminded again this week to tell everyone that you love them, over and over again…….and don’t take your life for granted.  Enjoy it while you have it!

  1. I love this card. Cute colors and a simple layout are very high on my list of favs for cards. Glad you enjoyed seeing your family. My husbands family does much the same thing-you don’t see many of them until one dies. It is sad. They have actually talked of having a family reunion but so far, that hasn’t happened.
