Happy Birthday, Charles!

Today is Charles’ birthday……..and we are excited about a fun family dinner and a delicious strawberry birthday cake!  I thought I’d show you his birthday card — and hope that he doesn’t see the blog before we give it to him!

This is called a Tri-Shutter Card.  I have wanted to make one of these for quite some time…….so dad’s birthday gave me the extra incentive to go the extra mile.  It only LOOKS hard…….it was really quite easy!  I will direct you to www.splitcoaststampers.com for the tutorial — perfect directions, dimensions, and photographs to coach you along.  I only decorated the front of the card, but I have seen many samples that do both sides.

The focal image when the card is closed is an image from Eight Great Greetings on page 48 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  I stamped it in Riding Hood Red (on its way back this summer!) and Baja Breeze.  I cut out the Baja Breeze center image and mounted it using Dimensionals.  I also added Crystal Effects to the “d” in the middle to draw even more emphasis to the focal image.

The inside of the card features the focal image from Starring You on page 173 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  I also did multiple layers using circle punches, dimensionals, and Crystal Effects.

Here is a view from the top, just in case you haven’t seen how “cool” the folds are on these cards.

And one final shot of the full card.  The Riding Hood Red stars that are stamped on the top and bottom  panels are stamped using Starring You.  The main card is Barely Banana cardstock, and the patterned paper is from Slumber Party Specialty Paper.  It is retired, but I still had some on hand and loved the color combination for Charles’ card.  I hope you like it………..and even more, I hope HE likes it!  Have a great day!
