May Project #3: Purse in a Box

Good morning………and happy weekend!  I hope each of you has a weekend full of fun — or rest — or whatever floats your boat!  I’m heading to Dallas for about 24 hours to see my mom and go to the Martha Pullen Sewing Market at the Arlington Convention Center.   I’m looking forward to seeing lots of neat sewing gadgets, bolts and bolts of fabric, and going out to eat with my mom.  It will be a quick trip, so I can return to my motherly duties.

Our last project that we did this month at club came from Andrea Walford’s Blog.  I had seen this a long time ago, and I’ve also seen many sizes and variations of this “box”.  However, this one appealed to me the most because of it’s size.  It is the perfect size to hold 4-5 cards/envelopes for a gift.  Since I give sets of cards quite often, I really enjoy having nice packaging for them, too.  You will need to go to the Tutorial Section of Andrea’s blog for the AWESOME photos and step-by-step directions.  If you have trouble finding it, just e-mail me and I will attach it to an e-mail for you.  It is no trouble at all 🙂

Most samples you see will also have some stamped images on the front of the bag, and added embellishments.  For the purpose of the class time, we only created the box.  I thought that they could stamp an image to match the cards or gift that they put inside the box.  I really liked how this printed paper turned out — and the image is so busy that I really don’t think this one needed much stamping…….maybe just a tag, though.

This Designer Series Paper came from “Walk In The Park” and is now retired.  I am on a mission to use up some of the massive amounts of paper in my office.  Maybe if I use up all this retired stuff, it will make it easier to justify ordering all the new stuff when it comes out this summer!  Hope so, at least!!!  Gotta justify it somehow!!!
