Happy Graduation, Daniel!

I have several Graduation Cards that I need to make……but this one took top priority today.  My nephew is graduating from Plano Sr. High, and I am so proud of him!  He is a hard worker, and has faced some adversity in recent months — and I love his determination to finish the fight!   I’m not sure how masculine this looks, but I hope it passes inspection.   I’d like to encourage you to read all the way to the end of this post where I explain some neat products that are shown on this card.  New products that most of you have not tried.

This card is a new type of “fold” for me that I learned from one of Diane Noble’s card tutorials that I purchased.  She has an awesome PDF that she sends you if you purchase it — you learn 5 new folds.  We will be doing a card similar to this one at CLUB next week if you are in my group.  If you are local, and would like to visit our club class next week, please let me know.  We welcome you to attend either Monday or Wednesday night.  No cost to you — just visit and create — and see what it’s all about.

The photo above shows how the card unfolds in both directions.  The card below will help you get a visual of how it looks when it is all closed up.  The “Way to Go” image is attached on the left side of the card and acts as a closure to keep it all shut.  Pretty cool, huh?

So, now I want to tell you about the supplies……..several important things to note.

#1 This stamp set is one of the MANY RETIRING stamp sets.  It is a small set, only $13.95, on page 173 of the catalog.  Really nice, small, and masculine looking…….I like it alot and plan on holding on to it!  If you want to see the LAST CHANCE LISTS please go to www.stampinup.com and see what you might need to purchase before the end of the month.  Accessories are available WHILE SUPPLIES LAST, but stamp sets are available until the end of the month, guaranteed.

#2  I used the new Silver Foil Smooch Spray on this card.  I’m not sure that you can really tell how awesome it shimmers in the light…….photos don’t do it justice.  I wanted to tie in some silver and sparkle with the graduation theme.  His colors are really Maroon and White, but I added the gray/silver accent color to add some life to this card.   Wish you could get the real effect from the photos…….trust me, it is gorgeous!

#3  I want to point out the checkerboard looking paper on that back layer of the card.  This is our new Specialty Paper from the Mini Catalog, page 15.  I have been intrigued by this paper and had to try it out.  This paper is white glossy paper that has been embossing IN WHITE on top of itself.  It is solid white when you open the package.  You can only see the designs when you wave it in the light.  It works like MAGIC, though, and POPS the design when you apply ink (brayer), Smooch Spray, or paint with an Aqua Painter.  So, this was a solid white sheet, and I needed something Bravo Burgundy.  We don’t have DSP in Burgundy, so I pulled this out and made my own patterned paper.  I brayered the Bravo Burgundy onto the Specialty Paper and also added some Silver Foil Smooch Spray to it.  The white gridmarks began to magically appear!  WOW!  I can’t wait to try even more of this stuff……….pretty cool, huh?

So, just another thing to think about purchasing…….sorry!  I just had to tempt you, didn’t I???  Details are shown below for the other patterns in the pack.
