Precious Receiving Blanket

I thought you’d like to see what I do in “all my spare time”.   I like to stitch…….embroidery, hand-quilting — any  kind of stiching….and here is one of my most recently finished projects.  It is a receiving blanket made out of pale pink cotton material.  I used some scraps from another project to make the chocolate brown flowers.  I added chocolate brown ric-rac between the 2 layers of fabric and topstitched the edges.

Here is a close-up of the blanket stitching that I did around the edges of the flowers and centers.  I used matching DMC embroidery floss.  Oh, I forgot to mention that I used Heat ‘n Bond LITE to adhere the flowers to the blanket before stitching around them.  The finished blanket measures about 44″ square.  I also like to round the corners of the blanket so I don’t have to deal with the pointed corners.  Especially with the ric-rac……..that is not fun!  The other side of the blanket is white with pale pink polka dots.  It is hard to tell in the photo, but it looks better in person.  I have a few more similar to this that are ironed on and in the process of being “stitched up”…….I keep things like this handy for when we are traveling in the car (and I’m NOT driving) or when we are watching TV at night — this is what I do — I half-way watch the TV and half-way stitch.  I am the queen of multi-tasking!

Hope you enjoy seeing what I do when I am NOT stamping……..and maybe it will inspire you to create even more!    Have a great day!!!!
