Framelits Treat Holder and our Samford Visit

I’d like to show you a little 3-D Candy holder that we made at our group meeting this past week.  I got this idea from Stampin’ Up! Co-Founder, Shelli Gardner.  She showed us how to make it at Leadership, and I really liked the simple beauty of it all.  Shelli’s used a gorgeous NEW stamp set (that I haven’t ordered YET), but I think this sample using “Four Frames” is pretty cute, too.  To make this project, you will cut out 2 of the largest size die of the Framelits Collection.   You will trim off one end from each of these two pieces so that you have a straight end, and then score each straight end at 1″.  This will make the bottom of the treat holder (overlap those ends and secure with Sticky Strip).

Of course you can decorate the front in so many different ways, but I chose my colors based on the new Twitterpated DSP — Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler.  I used a small Cello Bag inside and stuffed it with some small Hershey miniatures.  I secured the Cello Bag to the bottom with a little strip of Sticky Strip and then tied up the top with the cutest ribbon ever!  Don’t you love the scalloped Polka Dot ribbon?

This isn’t the very best of photos, but hope you can get the idea…….and the inspiration to try and make one of these.

Lindsey and I are in Birmingham, Alabama………visiting the “deep south” and one of their finest schools — Samford University.  We are having a wonderful time with her boyfriend and his dad.  The kids really enjoyed their campus tour today and we were able to visit with some students that graduated from the Waco area.  Lindsey definitely wants to go to college here, but the Scholarship Award letters have not gone out yet.  We are waiting on this information before we can make a firm decision.  We are praying that if this is where God wants her, then He will provide some of the resources, too.

These photos were taken in front of the main Admissions Building.  This whole campus is beautiful — some of the most gorgeous architecture I have seen.  Truly a “southern” experience………and we can’t wait to see the campus when everything is blooming.  Lindsey fell in love with every aspect!  It was such a good experience and we are having a wonderful time sight-seeing shopping in Birmingham.   Don’t you know the boyfriend is loving it?  He’s not used to this type of vacation — we even took him to a few places looking for Prom Dresses today.  What a hoot!

This was fun!  It was a big TV in the welcome center that posted various things about the University………and look at our names on the screen!  Yes, I took a photo of it, too!  If you want to see all of our photos, you can see them on Facebook.  Have a great weekend!
