Happy New Year!

Good morning and Happy New Year!  I’ve been enjoying the Christmas Break with family, and Charles has been off work, too.  I abandoned the blog for awhile, but I’ll get back to regular posts soon.  I have a few gifts that I’d like to show you — now that they have been given away!  I’ll try to get photos up and get back to some stampin’ projects soon, too. We rang in the New Year…

Merry Christmas from the Derricks!

I pray that those who are reading this post have had (or will have) some special moments with loved ones.  Maybe you were with your family members, or maybe you were with friends, but whatever the case may be, I hope you celebrated “LOVE, JOY, AND PEACE”.  We had a very different Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We did “untraditional” things, but we were together with the girls, and thankful for so many things.  We have…

Allyson’s 19th Birthday

Yesterday was Allyson’s 19th Birthday.  I can’t believe how the time has passed…….but she is such a lovely young adult and we are having so much fun while she is home from college.  We spent the day together at the hospital…….with Kimi and her family.  Yes, sounds strange, but we wouldn’t have been any other place.  It was the thing for us to do, and we really wanted to be there with Kimi through her…

Visiting PawPaw

Hi, friends!  I have a great project to show you, so check back later today.  I have a few things taking priority this morning…….I have to bake a cake for the auction tonight at the High School Band Concert.  It has to be “spectacular” and bring in lots of money!  Ha!  So…….I’m about to try out my skills and copy something I found on Pinterest………I’ll post photos later and let you know how it turns…

Happy Halloween and PawPaw’s going away dinner

Good morning and Happy Halloween!  I must admit, I don’t think about Halloween alot these days, but I did buy the candy and I am looking forward to seeing all the little munchkins out Trick or Treating.  I’m a good sport!  But I’m secretly glad that I don’t have to worry about sewing the “perfect” costumes for the girls any more.  Those were very fun times, but I’m enjoying the break.  Someday, I’ll get back…

Kimi’s Third Birthday

On Saturday, we went to see Kimi and her family.  In case you don’t know Kimi, she was our foster baby a few years ago.  We had her from age 6 weeks to 19 months.  She has alot of special needs, and we were blessed to see her accomplish many things that the “doctors” never thought she would do.  God is so, so good!  She is a rambunctious little toddler that loves life and lives…

Abilene bound…

Today we are moving Allyson to Abilene to attend Hardin-Simmons University.  It is a bittersweet moment, but I am so proud of my firstborn!  She will begin a new chapter of her life as a Freshman planning to major in Pre-Med and pursue her goal to become a Pediatrician.  I’m sure my car will learn how to find Abilene on “auto-pilot” and I look forward to exploring this city in the future.  God has been with us through…

May Club Project #2 and Miss LHS Award

Take a look at the bright, crisp colors in this card!  We will be making this as one of our projects tonight at my house.  The main focus of this card is the newest flower punch Stampin’ Up! is selling in their Summer Mini Catalog.  This is a “triple punch” with all of these flowers coming from only one punch!  That’s right, purchase one thing, and get alot more…….I like that kind of purchase!…
