What a glorious day!

What a wonderful day it is to celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, breaking the power over sin and death, so that we could be free.  Be encouraged today that He gave His life for you so that you could have abundant life. He loves you so much more than you know. And if you know me well, you know that I took hundreds of pictures today, starting at 7:30 this…

Keeping the home fires burning…….literally!

The crazy weather this week has interfered with my life!  Ha!  It has really been an eventful week for us Texans that really don’t know what to think about snow.  First, we didn’t have school on Tuesday because everyone jumped the gun a little bit and “thought” the weather was going to get bad and “thought” we would need to be at home.  Granted, it is unbelievably cold around here.  But bundle up and move…

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM THE DERRICKS!!!  We went to Dallas Wednesday to visit my mom…..and she prepared a delicious dinner!  She made a fantastic pie for me, a Cherry and Cranberry Pie!  Very unique — sweet and tangy!  I loved it!  And she made my husband a delicious Coconut Cake (well, her said it was delicious, I didn’t try that one!).  Here’s a picture of Mimi and her granddaughters.   We came back to Waco for Thanksgiving…

Weekend Highlights!

Well, better start with Thursday night….that’s when our “weekend” started with our playoff game.  We had a wonderful time at the game, and the weather was perfect!  The rain didn’t fall, but the Mexia Blackcats did!!!  Look at this final score!  Lorena 21, Mexia 6 Sarah, Tanner, Bri, and Allyson ready to cheer on the Leopards! Dad and Josiah came along, too!  Charles didn’t have to officiate a game until Friday night, so got to…

A glimpse at my weekend…

Friday festivities: Friday was the last school day before Halloween.  I’m not really into the spooky, witchy kinda stuff, but I like a good excuse to send treats to school for the teachers.  I made 24 of these so the kids could deliver them to the teachers, and we took 2 of them to Josiah’s teachers at the daycare.   The candy corn stamp is a stamp that I have had for many years…….way before I…

What’s up with you?

I’m not sure you really care, but when I am reading other’s blogs, it’s because I’m wondering “what’s up” with them.  I enjoy the projects they show, the photos they share, and the stories they tell.  I’m not much of an entertainer — some of those blog stories keep me in stitches!  They share such funny, enlightening stories……I guess I feel like what I have to tell is pretty boring!  But I am really feeling…

We’re home!

Hello friends!  We are home from a fantastic voyage to the New England area and we are still in awe of the beauty we saw! I’m posting a few photos today, but will look forward to sharing more in the days ahead.  We are still getting back into the groove of things and we had a very busy day at church yesterday.  It was a very sad and emotional day for us, as our Minister of…

Kimi’s Birthday

Hi, friends!  I’m sorry I am not getting must posted today…..I’m under the attack of a “stomach bug” and really not able to do anything much.  I will be back tomorrow with some new Stampin’ Up! projects.  Kimi’s birthday was AMAZING!  We had so much fun and were able to meet many of their extended family and friends.  She is in SUCH a great adoptive home and we were reminded again how special they are. …

Cottage Garden Card with Ribbon Accent

This is the third and final project we made at my clubs this week.  I found this pretty ribbon technique just by accident when looking at some blogs.  You can see this (and other fantastic projects) at Barb’s Blog.  She has some great techniques and samples!   I have enjoyed using the new Cottage Garden stamp set and the new coordinating DSP Sunny Garden.  The colors used on this card are Very Vanilla, Poppy Parade, Pear…

Hook ‘Em Horns!

NO…….I am not a University of Texas Longhorn Alum.  But I love to support Texas teams, and special friends.  So, I became a Longhorn on Saturday and traveled to see the Longhorn Marching Band.  I guess you could say I watched some Longhorn Football, too, but I was really on a mission to see the BAND!  Allyson’s best friend, Collin, is a Freshman at UT and made the UT Drumline.  It was his first performance…
