Peace and Joy and All Good Things

We are headed home from Nashville today……..back to reality!  For a little “Sunday thought”, I wanted to share with you a Christmas gift that I gave to two of the most special ladies in my life.  They are my “adopted” mom and sister here in Waco.  I love them dearly……and God truly blessed me when they led them into my life! God’s word says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his…

A Word of Encouragement

I would like to share with you a word today about ENCOURAGEMENT.  I was thinking about this word alot yesterday.  The card and the gift that I am showing you today are for someone who has been a  great encourgement to me for many years, and whom I have been trying to encourage this past semester.  You see, I’m in a ladies’ singing group at church called Joyful Sound.  We have secret pals each semester, only…

Thank You’s for Christmas Presents

Good morning!  We had a wonderfully relaxing 4 day-type of weekend, enjoying our last days of Christmas vacation. I rang in the New Year in my PJ’s on the couch, enjoying the peace and quiet of a sleeping baby.  My teenagers were out very late (one babysitting, one celebrating) and I had to stay up half the night to make sure they were home safely.  NOT because I was ringing in the New Year in…

2010 Finishes!

I thought it would be a neat idea to look back at my projects this year.  I have SEVERAL Quilting Blogs that I read (along with MANY Stampin’ blogs) and I have noticed that alot of them show their completions.  This was my first year to DIVE into quilting.  I have always wanted to make quilts, but I was discouraged at the thought of making such HUGE projects when I had so much going on…

Grammy’s Log Cabin Quilt

The “biggest” or most time-consuming project that I made for Christmas was a quilt for Charles’ mom — best know as Grammy.  I decided last spring that I wanted to make a quilt for her, but I really struggled with what pattern, what colors, and what size.  I finally just “bit the bullet” and went with a very traditional pattern, a Log Cabin Quilt.   I used the Eleanor Burns Log Cabin Quilt-in-a Day Book.    Our local…

One more completed project!

I am so excited to have all of my potholders DONE!  One more thing to cross off my list.  I was about to think that this “simple” idea was going to be the bain of my existence.  I have piddled with them a little here and a little there for about a month!  It seemed like such a quick and easy idea, but I hit a few road blocks and then broke my sewing machine…

Kimi’s Blanket

I thought I’d show you Kimi’s blanket that I finally finished.  I started it when she was pretty tiny, and she is now a little over 2 years old!  I wanted to give it to her for her birthday, and I didn’t get it finished.  And then I wanted to give it to her on National Adoption Day……..but we ended up not getting to see her.  Some of you may not know, but she was adopted into…

Another completion!

I finally finished my Christmas quilt………well, let me start over.  I finished my Christmas quilt about a week ago, but I still haven’t sewn any buttons on it.  I had originally thought I’d sew some of the Stampin’ Up! Extra-Large buttons (from the Holiday Mini) on it, but now I’m reconsidering.  And I really don’t want to sew them all on, to be quite honest. ” Just not feelin’ it”, as my kids would say.  Believe me,…

Blame it on the magazine…

Yep!  Blame it on the magazine that my friend Deborah showed me……..and my lack of will power!  Yep!  I bought the magazine and some more fabric!  Guess that won’t surprise you!  In all seriousness, if you ever get a Gooseberry Patch Book or Magazine, you will absolutely LOVE IT!  I probably have 7 or 8 of their books (not necessarily Christmas versions) and they have THE BEST ideas for cooking and crafting.  They are cute,…
