A few weeks ago I stumbled on a great tutorial for an Easel Card by Susan Campfield. It was much easier than some of the others I had looked at, and I was eager to give it a try with some of the Sale-A-Bration stamps. If you’d like the details on how to create such a fun and fancy card, please visit her blog HERE. She shows a few additional samples, and her tutorial is simply wonderful! To create the “chicken wire” background on the Smoky Slate cardstock, I used the new Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder but I DID NOT emboss with the Big Shot. For this card, I simply inked up the embossing folder and rubbed the cardstock directly on top of the inked plastic. Gently rub with your fingertips, and you will get a cute background that resembles chicken wire. I accidentally forgot to use a marker and color a bit of “ground” below the chicken’s feet. I guess it looks like she is floating on air, but actually it only looked that way for a few seconds. Go ahead, color the ground, you’ll be happy you did. Sorry I didn’t get any photos of the finished product!
I used a paper-piecing technique on the chicken’s body. The gray Designer Series Paper is from the Foxy Friends 6×6 Paper Stack. All supplies can be seen below. Make sure you take a look at Susan’s samples using this technique. You’ll love them!
Here’s a peek at the back of the card, just to give you a little bit better idea of how it all works…
Hello, friends! I got WAY behind last week. My little one ended up quite ill with a stomach bug and missed three days of school. Charles and I were juggling work and “clean up” patrol, along with trying to get some of her schoolwork done so that she didn’t get too far behind. These cards were from my Stamp Club in February, and I realized that I hadn’t posted them yet. I want to point out the “Any Occasion” stamp set used here…….it really didn’t catch my eye, and I didn’t think that I would use it. But…..upon closer inspection, I feel like I’m going to like it! It is very versatile and will help me with so many different types of cards. Supply list for these cards is at the bottom of this post.
There are also THREE new items for Sale-A-Bration rewards, so you won’t want to miss those! There are 2 new stamp sets and a 6×6 Glimmer Paper Assortment. My order arrived yesterday, so I look forward to sharing some new samples soon. You’ll have until the end of March to earn these products! Click on the products below to see more details on my Stampin’ Up! Website.
I’m always in need of more “thank you” cards. How about you? The beautiful scripted verse is from one of the Sale-A-Bration sets, and I think it may be my favorite one, and definitely is the most practical one. I know that I will use it a great deal — and it will NEVER go out of style! It is quite large — so large that you can crank out a handful of cards in no time!!!
It’s really hard to see in the photograph, but this is Shimmery White Cardstock. It is SO nice to work with, and has an ever-so-subtle shimmery, smooth finish. I think I like it even better than Whisper White! Notice the three little white pearls in the center of the flower. I almost didn’t add them, but it really made the card come to life. Always add something dimensional to your projects! You’ll never regret it.
Speaking of Sale-A-Bration……..we are about 1/2 way through the sales period. You have until March 30th to earn FREE sets. And this week Stampin’ Up! introduced three additional items. WOOHOO! I placed an order and I have more goodies on the way! I will post some samples using them in the weeks to come. Don’t forget that you earn one free product for each $50 in sales.
I hope each of you have a wonderful day celebrating this special day with loved ones. I hope you find a way to show love to others around you. You don’t need a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend to celebrate LOVE! Friendships, children, sorority sisters, college roommates, and my wonderful church family………these are relationships that come to my mind today. And ultimately, the love that God shows me each and every day is the love that I want to share with others. I pray that you know this type of love………and that it allows you to share love with all God’s children.
This is Charles’ card that I made for him. I forgot to photograph it in good lighting, and it was storming this morning, so this is as good as it gets. The patterned paper on this card is quite old, but I didn’t have anything else that I really felt like using. I need to invest in the Neutrals Paper Pack in my next order! It’s a bit hard to tell, but I sponged the background embossing (Woodland) with Crumb Cake Ink and I sponged the heart (Sparkle Embossing Folder) with Night of Navy Ink. Hopefully he thinks this looks manly enough….I’m not that great with masculine cards!
I have always wanted to make an “Easel Card” at my Stamp Club class, and when I found this awsome tutorial from Susan Campfield’s blog, I was all over it! Since I wanted to focus on Sale-A-Bration stamp sets, I grabbed “Hey, Chick” and got to work! For a full tutorial, you’ll want to CLICK HERE. For my “base card” (the bottom layer), I inked up the new Hexagon Embossing Folder with Basic Black ink. I did not emboss the Smoky Slate cardstock, nor did I use the Big Shot in any way. I simply inked up the raised side of the folder and placed my cardstock on top of the ink. I gently rubbed my fingers around on the cardstock to impress the “chicken wire” onto the cardstock. I think it gave the perfect look to my background. I love finding multiple uses for our amazing Stampin’ Up! products. Give it a try! Ink up your embossing folders and see what fun backgrounds you can create!
Here is a front view of the card. It lays perfectly flat for mailing, and it fits in a standard sized envelope.
And here is a photo from the back side (as if it were open and sitting on your desk). Once you see the tutorial, it will all make sense. And it is one of the easiest “fancy fold” cards I’ve seen. Thanks to Susan for sharing this great technique!
Just a little treat bag today…..using non-traditional Valentine colors. You have to branch out now and then, huh? I love Stampin’ Up!’s new Glassine Envelopes. This one is filled with Dove chocolates, but they are PERFECT for some home baked cookies! The baker in me is excited about that!
Mark your calendars for my next SATURDAY STAMP CAMP on February 25th at 10:00 am at my house. The theme will be “BIRTHDAYS” and we will create birthday cards for all ages. Stay tuned for more details, but mark your calendars!
Stampin’ Up! bundles make my work so easy! This card features the Sending Love Bundle. Nothing fancy here…..just some stamps, ink and paper. The coordinating framelits give my creative juices a brain break — they do all the work for me!
I’m headed to Alabama today to see the kids! I couldn’t be more excited! The Air Force delayed Ben and Lindsey’s move until April, so I’m getting to stay at their cute little house one more time, and see Sarah perform in “Step Sing” this weekend with all her Zeta sisters. It will be an eventful trip with lots of memory making on the agenda! I hope you all get your Valentines done this weekend!
Just a little note…….to let everyone know that Valentine’s Day is almost here! Mail your hand-made cards out and tell them you love them! Today’s card is super sweet! There’s something about that teeny tiny envelope that gets me every time! I punched the little hears out with the Confetti punch and carefully applied them to the card with Stampin’ Up! Fine Tip Glue. It is a little tedious to do the little hearts……and I sold 40 of these cards at my office, so that was A WHOLE LOT of tiny hearts. However, I happened to have one of these little tools called a QUICKSTIK in my scrapbooking stash to help me out. Seriously check out this inexpensive little tool and THANK ME LATER! Tiny things won’t be a problem any more!
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration is still going on through the end of March. For each $50 you spend, you’ll get a free Sale-A-Bration product.
Do you have $100 or more on your WISH LIST??? If you do…….then you should purchase our $99 Kit! I had two ladies do this just last week. You will receive $125 in Stampin’ Up! product of YOUR CHOICE, along with an extra TWO STAMP SETS of your choice for joining during Sale-A-Bration. Please call me for extra details!
