Wetlands Birthday Cards with Clear Block Watercoloring

I have been challenged this year to create more Masculine cards than ever before in my life.  I started a new job this past January and my boss wanted to start sending birthday cards to all of the employees in the departments that he oversees.  There are quite a few men on the list, so I have worked hard to come up with fresh new ideas.  The cards shown today are an easy type of watercolor technique that I showed at one of my Stamp With Perrywinkle downline meetings in the spring.

Demonstrators on my team meet once a month for a Training Event where we stamp, learn new techniques, and discuss business practices.  We greatly enjoy this time of fellowship and education with others who share our love for stamping.  After our training event, I decided that I should use the technique I taught at the meeting for my masculine birthday cards in May.  I snapped these photos at the office right before I gave them to my boss!

To create the watercolor background, I picked out the desired size of Clear Acrylic Block (any size will work) and cut some Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Paper just slightly larger than my acrylic block.   I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color directly onto the acrylic block with desired colors and intensity.  Then I spritzed the block about 4 times quickly with Stampin’ Mist (water also works, but Stampin’ Mist is always handy on my desk!  Invert your acrylic block quickly trying to not let the colors run too much.  Press down firmly onto the watercolor paper and do not move the block.  Hold it down for 10-15 seconds with firm pressure allowing the colors to permeate the fibers of the watercolor paper and blend together a little bit.  (NOTE:  Each card will be slightly different.  Don’t get discouraged by imperfections!  Once you stamp them and add some other accessories, you will LOVE your card!)

I know that some of you will wonder what colors I used on the cards.  I believe that I used Soft Sky and Crumb Cake on the top card, but I am unsure on this one.  Perhaps Tangarine Tango and Crushed Curry?  I apologize, but I honestly don’t remember!  The background and the stamped images were done with Early Espresso.  Make sure you allow the watercolor paper to completely dry prior to stamping.

If you enjoy learning new techniques (usually quick and easy!), then you might want to consider joining my Monthly Stamp Club.  We meet once a month and make 3 projects using Stampin’ Up! supplies and trying out newly released products.  Each member commits to purchasing $15 in Stampin’ Up! supplies each month and one member each month serves as our Hostess.  She earns free products and Hostess Exclusives that month!  There is no fee to attend, and guests are always welcome.   Please RSVP or message me if you’d like to come to our first meeting on August 25th.  Read more about it in THIS POST.

Want to join my monthly Stamp Club?

Would you like to escape once a month and have some girl time?  Would you like to use new Stampin’ Up! products and take them on a test drive before you make a purchase?  Would you enjoy having some gift ideas or some extra cards on hand to immediately send to your friends?  Then you would enjoy my monthly Stamp Club!  Sign Ups are currently being accepted for my new Stamp Club!  Perhaps you’ve been thinking about it, or were a previous member who took a year off.  Whatever your situation might be, we would love to stamp with you once a month!  Club details are shown below.  Please let me know by August 20th if you plan to join us so that I can finalize all the details and have your stampin’ supplies ready!

The Stamper’s Ten Club Class meets once a month at my house.  We do not always meet on the same day of the week.  It is totally random each month, but you always know one month ahead so you can plan accordingly.  We have 8-10 members in each of my clubs.  There might be 2 clubs this year, just as we have had in the past, but it just depends on how many we have that want to join.   We will do the SAME projects at both club classes.  We will have club class meeting on Tuesday, August 25th at 6:30 p.m. and you will receive the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog and Holiday Catalog for FREE (if you have not already gotten them from me).   We will put everyone’s name in a drawing, and we will randomly choose names so you can pick one of the next 10 months (Sept. 2015 – June 2016) to be the hostess.  When it is YOUR MONTH to be the hostess, you will need to provide snacks and drinks for the group.  I will clean the house, and provide all the crafty stuff……..you just show up!  Everyone in the group is required to spend  $15 each month.  If you can’t  make the class, you must e-mail me your order and arrange payment no later than the day of the class.   Although $15 is all that is required, you can earn more hostess benefits by collecting outside orders.  In addition, many of the club participants regularly order more than $15 because they always things they just can’t live without.  So, you get free merchandise, free hostess sets, and free project ideas from me.  All of the classes will include patterns, handouts, and opportunities to try NEW things that you will really love!  You also get fun time with other ladies who love to create — and YUMMY FOOD!   What could be better???

This is a great opportunity to replace your cardstock supply, order stamp pads or re-inkers that you don’t have yet, or accumulate a little here and there during our Club Classes.

So what is keeping you from joining the club???  This is a very minimal commitment and you will thoroughly enjoy a little “Ladies Night Out” to craft and socialize.

Do you want to join???  Please e-mail me and I will go over any questions you might have.  Our first class is on TUESDAY, AUGUST 25th at 6:30 p.m.  Remember, we need groups of 8-10 to form the clubs……so let me know if you want to join in on the fun!  I believe that we will definitely have enough ladies to form one group, and potentially two groups.   We tend to fill up rather quickly, so don’t forget to call me or email me today!

We make things like tags, cards, framed items, and more!    At most classes, we make 3 projects with one of them being a 3 D project.   You will always receive an email with  full color photos, instructions, and dimensions for all projects.  The sample card above was made with some “leftovers” from my Definitely Dahlia class.  I had a different card in mind, but when it was all said and done, I used the embossed piece in a completely different way!  Creativity at it’s finest!

Definitely Dahlia Class: Tuesday, July 28

imageMy next event will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 6:30 pm. You will receive the new Definitely Dahlia stamp and create five cards using this jumbo background stamp. I believe that you will enjoy having this stamp as a part of your own collection SO much that I decided to create this class and share the veraatity of this image. You can add your choice of greetings at my house. If you want all of your cards to be “thank you” cards, or “birthday” cards, you can use my assortment of verses to personalize the class cards. Can’t come to class? Order a kit! I’ll send you all the supplies to create the projects on your own. You’ll need your own adhesive and some greeting stamps to complete the cards at home. You MUST email me with your RSVP by THIS Tuesday, July 21st, so that I can order the stamps and get the shipped here on time.

TUESDAY, July 28th, 2015

6:30 PM, Dawn’s House, Lorena, TX

$25 fee includes Wood Mounted Stamp ($20 Retail) and supplies for 5 cards (3 shown above plus 2 more)

RSVP by Tuesday, July 21st, by email, text, or FB Message.

I am planning on ordering the stamp as a wood mount for all participants.  I have found that I am happier with Wood Mount stamps for the larger background stamps.  However, if you would like to have Clear Mount instead, you will need to make sure that you have the largest acrylic block (Size F, $17) in order to use the Dahlia image.  If you would like to order the stamp and the acrylic block, just let me know.  I will gladly order them for you, but the class will $37 instead of $25.

3×3 Notecard Set with Gift Box

imageThis is a cute little gift box with 3×3 notecards that we made at my June Club Class.  Some of the supplies are retired, but I still wanted you to see it —  you can certainly adjust the flower image and DSP to your liking.

I found the pattern for this project at www.stampingpro.com and it is one of Chiaki Haverstick’s many FREE tutorials on her blog.  If you haven’t checked out her site,  you should do so!  She is an amazing artist with some of the best tutorials I have seen.  I adjusted it just a bit to accommodate some of the new lace trim and papers that I had plenty of for all the ladies who attend my monthly Club Class.

I made 2 styles of cards measuring 3×3, once again almost identical to the tutorial.  There are 6 cards total, 3 of each.

The side view of the Card Carrier helps show you how it holds the 6 cards so nicely! Thank you, Chiaki for the amazing ideas you provide!

Definitely Dahlia Thank You Card – Card Class this Thursday!

FullSizeRender (2)

EDITED NOTE:  Card class scheduled for Thursday, July 16 has been cancelled.  Sorry!

I gave you a little peek at these two cards yesterday, but didn’t share the supplies for the Definitely Dahlia card shown on the right.   I am so happy about this new jumbo flower image!  This is a very simple card, and perfect for those who need lots of “WOW” with very little effort.  The ideas are endless for this image, and I know that it will be one that I will use over and over again.  I have already seen so many card samples online, so get ready!  You will see this one used a great deal by me!

Please RSVP if you plan on attend class this Thursday.  We will make these 2 cards, plus 3 others.  Fee is $10, or FREE if you place a $20 order.  You can choose the greeting for your card, so if you need birthday cards, thank you cards, or any other occasion, you can make them!  All cards will feature flowers — new flowers from the new catalog!

One week from today, I will be leaving for Stampin’ Up!’s annual convention in Salt Lake City.  I’m so excited to see some of my best girlfriends from coast to coast as we celebrate the reason we all became friends — our love for the hobby of rubber stamping.  I’m busy completing swap cards for this event — mine is a baby card — but I can’t show you that sample until next week.  I have lots of cards and quilting projects from the past 6 weeks that I haven’t blogged about, so make sure you hang in there with me and I’ll show you some great ideas.

Don’t forget to RSVP if you are coming to Thursday’s class at 6:30 p.m.  Have a great week!

I’m back! Come stamp with me this week — summer flowers are in bloom!

Hello, friends!  I hope you are having a fantastic summer!  I know I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus here lately, but I’ve had alot of things pulling and tugging at me.  May and June were challenging months for me (and our family as a whole) with alot of physically and emotionally draining things.  I had to make a decision to not worry about the blog, not worry about Stampin’ classes, and move forward one day at a time.  God has given me strength and stamina, and strength to make it through the peaks and valleys.  I’m still stamping………just taking it slow and easy this summer.  That’s really not unusual for me — I typically don’t do as much Stampin’ Up! stuff during the summer months.  So bear with me, and expect great things this fall.  Stay tuned for details on my new Club Class and new product classes.

BUT THIS WEEK…….on Thursday evening @ 6:30 p.m., I’m having a card class using ALL NEW SUMMER FLOWER STAMPS and these are two of the cards we will be making.  We will make a total of five cards and all of them will be quick and easy using new Stampin’ Up! floral images.  These will be VERY versatile cards.  Add the greeting of your choice for a Birthday card, Thank You card, Sympathy Card, or Thinking of You.  Many other greetings to choose from, as well.  Cost is $10 or FREE if you place a $20 order.  Please RSVP by Tuesday evening.

And now for some family updates:

Allyson has completed Nursing School and will soon be an “official” Registered Nurse.  She is studying for the NCLEX so that she can get her license and begin work in August.  Hopefully she will be working at one of our hospitals here in Waco.  We are looking forward to having our first-born back in Waco and she is an amazing help with Lila!  She looks forward to bonding with Lila even moreso, as Lila came to live with us after she was already gone to college, and Lila loves having her as a big sister!

Lindsey is serving in a Campus Outreach Missions Program this summer called Summer Beach Project in Panama City Beach.  She is really having an amazing summer full of spiritual growth.  We were blessed to have her and her boyfriend, Ben, here for 10 days in May right before they went to Florida.  She begins her Senior year at Samford in August.

Sarah graduates in the Top 10 at Lorena HS on June 5th.  She has had a fun summer traveling to LA for a 9 day Mission Trip/Choir Tour with her youth choir.  She came home for 3 days before heading off to Glorietta, NM for Youth Camp.  She is now home for a few more weeks before heading to Samford in Birmingham, AL to begin her college career!  She is super-duper excited, and I’m very happy for her.  I’m MUCH calmer about my 3rd one leaving for college, and it helps that her sister will be there for one more year to cheer her on!

Lila is approaching her 5th birthday, and continues to grow and mature each day.  Life is crazy with a toddler around here, and there is never a dull moment around here!  She keeps us running (and laughing) and drains us of our energy!  Once August rolls around, we will be entering into our new life with only a Kindergartner at home and things should settle down just a little.  We still have our little foster baby, but she will probably be leaving this fall, as well.  We have plans to “officially” retire when our current baby leaves……after 11 years of fostering.  We feel like we are ready, and pray that God can continue to use us in other capacities.  We just feel that the time is right for us to stop.  It has been a tough decision, but we are ready.

The new catalog is on it’s way!  I am so excited — it is full of greatness!  I’ve only seen a peek at everything online, but my physical copy will be here on Friday!  I have also ordered SEVERAL boxes of catalogs that I will be sharing with YOU!  But before you get too excited, make sure you pay attention to the Retired List and grab your favorites before they are gone for good.  I’m not allowed to show you what is IN the catalog, but I can tell you what WON’T be in the new catalog.  So, take a look at these sets, and order them by May 29th if you really want them!  Some of these are just too good to pass up!  For simplicity, I have only listed one type (ex: clear mount) of each set,  but ALL TYPES of these stamp sets are retiring.

Hello, Sweet Friend Punch Card

THIS TUESDAY is another exciting day!  Stampin’ Up! will release the RETIRED LIST!!!  It’s that time, again…..I can’t even believe it!  Some items will disappear right before your eyes!  The minute that list is released, the items start selling out faster than you can punch in your order.  So, be ready!  I will post it as soon as I possibly can, but with my work schedule, that can be challenging.  You’re best bet is to visit the Stampin’ Up! website and grab it from there if you don’t see it on my blog.  More information is coming, but here is what I have been told:

“As we get closer to the end of the Stampin’ Up! year, we’re getting ready to retire stamps and accessories from the 2014-2015 annual catalog. Don’t worry, though! You and your customers will have the opportunity to order retiring products at discounted prices (up to 50 percent off retail) before they’re gone. Start evaluating your current inventory and get ready to share the retired list with your customers when it goes live on April 21.”

This card is CASEd from an idea that I saw on Pinterest.  Isnt’ it fun!?!?  Make sure you punch the heart first, and then slide your 1″ circle punch in and center it up.  Punch out the circle with the heart centered perfectly!
